Case (working title): Why Does a Costco Chicken Cost a CostCo Customer $4.99?
In 2022, Costco management revealed at the annual shareholder meeting that the company had sold approximately 117 million rotisserie chickens globally, an increase of 10% over 2021 sales. Despite record-high inflation, supply chain woes, and rising poultry production costs, Costco's rotisserie chickens have remained priced at $4.99 since 2009. Adjusted for inflation, the price of a rotisserie chicken should be $8.31.
